Hopefully, you had a wonderful holiday enjoying time with family and friends.
My holiday was super busy, but then again, that’s pretty normal for me. I am thankful for the time that I shared with family and friends.
The holiday season kicked off with me hosting Thanksgiving dinner for my family. This year, we had twenty-five family members in attendance. Then, in December, we had a graduation and dinner celebration to attend for my niece. She graduated college with her bachelor’s degree; so we gathered as a family to celebrate her, and this important milestone in her life. We are very proud of her hard work and commitment to her education.
Afterwards, the Christmas celebrations began. This year, I had three Christmases, per usual. The first celebration was on December 22nd, which was hosted by my Sister and her family. This is the time that we celebrate with my side of the family. My second celebration was on Christmas Eve. I host this celebration, which is the time dedicated to my children and grandchildren. We eat, have Grinch punch (and he normally makes an appearance), play games, sing Christmas carols and open presents. My third celebration is on Christmas Day, and is hosted by my Mother-in-law. This is the time that we celebrate with my husband’s side of the family. Additionally, our marriage anniversary is at the end of December as well. This year we celebrated twenty-eight years of marriage. Needless to say, November and December are very busy months of the year for me!
Even though it is busy, it is a good busy; and I am so thankful to God for my family.
On New Year’s Eve, I took some time to reflect on the upcoming year, and the goals that I would like to achieve. I sat down at my computer and typed them out. I realize that New Year’s resolutions can have some negative connotations surrounding them, concerning people not being able to stick to their resolutions. So, I don’t like to focus on resolutions, however, I do like to check-in with myself, my life, where I’ve been, and where I hope to go on this journey of life. I believe that it is important to make decisions and to have some sense of direction for your life. It’s been my experience, that the more detailed that I am, the more I am able to accomplish and achieve. My goals, and the direction that I choose for my life, greatly dictate how I spend my time, and my resources. There are many things that can happen by chance, but most things, under normal circumstances, happen by choice. The beginning of a new year is the perfect time to reflect on your life, and what you want for your life.
I’m wishing you a blessed and prosperous new year!
P.S. Over the holidays, I got a chance to post a video of my first Christmas village. Check it out!
