Change is inevitable

Change is inevitable. Why? Because time is the force behind change.

On this journey of life, time moves us from one phase to the next. It moves us, even without our permission. We have zero control over the start, and ending of each day. The earth is always making its rotation around the sun. We cannot stop time. And with the passing of time, comes change. It is inevitable, because they both go hand in hand.

During our time here on this Earth, change is continuous. It is happening all around us. Nothing stays the same. Even when we don’t necessarily see the change with our naked eyes, we can still be certain that change is happening, even if it’s ever so slight.

Because nothing stays the same, everything is temporary. Even if that temporary state lasts for a long time, it will one day come to an end.

This truth brings both joy and sadness. Joy, because there are some situations in which we welcome change. Situations that make us unhappy, that may be unhealthy…situations that are uncomfortable. In these, we welcome change. There are other situations, or experiences, in which change brings us sadness. Sadness because we do not wish for them to end. We want to hold on to the things and people that bring us joy, but we cannot. Because even good things, will one day too, come to an end.

Everything in this life is temporary. And this is a humbling reality.

So, as humans, on this journey of life, what can we do?

We must cherish the good, because it will not last. Have hope in difficulty, because it too, will not last.

We should try to respond to every situation in life with grace, dignity, love, and patience.
