Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. Proverbs 31: 30
The Proverbs 31 woman is a phenomenal woman with many great qualities. She is the model and aspiration, for so many Christian women. It is such a joy, and an inspiration, to read of all of the qualities and deeds that she exhibits. The list is amazing!
But when it’s all said and done, she is able to do all of these wonderful things because she fears the Lord. Proverbs 31: 30 is my favorite verse of this chapter, and is the inspiration behind this collection.
The design features a single red rose with a background of lush green. It is so fitting for this scripture because the red rose is a definite favorite amongst flowers for it’s beauty and fragrance. However, like all flowers, in time, its beauty will fade, and it will die. Likewise, no matter how physically beautiful a woman is, over time, she will age and eventually die. Therefore, we cannot put our confidence in that which is temporal. True beauty and immortality come from a heart that is wholly surrendered to God. Most importantly, all of her wonderful deeds and the qualities that she exhibits, are rooted in her fear of the Lord. She honors God. And because of this, He is able to work through her. The Bible tells us that it is God that works through us to will, and to do according to His purpose. The Proverbs 31 woman is not a phenomenal woman because of her flesh, she is a phenomenal woman because she fears the Lord. God is the source of her greatness.
